TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS preparation

Cape Studies offers 4 -8 weeks preparation courses for TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication), measures English proficiency for the global workplace. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), evaluates English proficiency for those pursuing academic studies. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) assesses the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used. These are intensive preparation courses providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to pass the examinations. The exams are internationally recognised. Students participate in General English classes in the morning and are given specific examination training in the afternoon through private lessons.

Students participate in General English classes in the morning and are given specific examination training in the afternoon.

Accommodation

Cape Studies owns its own school building and a student residence in the trendy, tourist hot spot of Green Point. Nowhere else in Cape Town can you take a 15-minute walk to the beach, the city centre, the best sport facilities, 100s of restaurants and all major tourist attractions. This will all be within walking distance of your accommodation.

STUDENT RESIDENCE

student residence is situated on the school premises and offers 5 bedrooms, which can be booked as single or double rooms, with shared bathrooms. there is self-catering kitchen is fully-equipped and each room is assigned a locked cupboard to store groceries. Each bedroom is tastefully furnished with wardrobes, bedside lamps, bedside tables, a mirror and a desk. Two of the rooms open up onto a large balcony overlooking our beautiful garden and the stadium. There is a braai (BBQ) area, a swimming pool and a large patio that students have full access to. the school is located in Green Point, a safe residential area, just off the bustling main road, where you will find plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and a laundry facility. The beach and the V&A Waterfront are merely a 15-minute walk away. this residence is the most popular type of accommodation and gets booked fairly quickly. To avoid disappointment, be sure to book well in advance to secure your stay.

HOME STAY – SOUTH AFRICAN HOST

students can also choose to live with one of South African hosts while in Cape Town. This has proven to be

excellent way of improving their English. You will have a single room and share breakfast with your host. Most of our hosts are young professionals, couples and elderly ladies. Our hosts all live close to the school, most of them within walking distance.

 Student Agreement

 Booking:Registration for a course(s) occurs when a client has received written confirmation from Cape Studies.
  1. Alteration and cancellation:Please note that Cape Studies does not have a cancellation fee. This should enable you to book well in advance so that we can assist you with your accommodation requirements. Once the course has started, there will be no refund for courses or accommodation under any circumstances, whatsoever. Alterations of courses after the commencement of your course will be charged at € 50.
  2. Should a visa application be rejected, or Cape Studies not be able to run certain course(s), or find suitable alternatives for which a student has registered, then tuition fees for said course(s) shall be refunded in full.
  3. Withdrawal:Once courses have commenced no refund will be considered should a student cancel or fail to attend lessons. Nor will a refund be considered should a student be asked to withdraw from said course(s) due to poor attendance or unsatisfactory performance and / or unbecoming behaviour.
  4. Course amendments: Should only one student apply to study a particular course in the morning, that student will receive 10 one-to-one lessons instead of the usual 20 lessons allotted to a group of students, and 5 one-to-one lessons instead of the usual 10 lessons allotted to a group of students for lessons in the afternoon. Duration per lesson is 50 minutes.
  5. Insurance:Cape Studies does not insure students against illness, accident, theft, or against the loss of personal effects or whatsoever at any time. Neither Cape Studies not its representatives will accept responsibility for any accident that may occur to any student for the duration of a course, either during excursions or any other activities, whether on or off the premises of the institution. Cape Studies therefore recommends that students take out full personal insurance cover, including medical and any other foreseeable expenses. This insurance should include loss of fees paid in advance, in total or in part, for a course or for any activity that cannot be attended.
  6. Public holidays during the student year:One-on-one lessons that have been missed due to public holidays will be made up to a student at a date that is convenient to both teacher and student. There are no afternoon classes on public holidays.
  7. Place of jurisdiction:The courts of Cape Town will settle disputes between Cape Studies and registered students.
  8. Validity of booking:All prices are only valid when the booking is made directly via Internet and need to be re-confirmed by Cape Studies.

  1. Transfers:Transfer fees from the airport are included in all course fees if you booked your accommodation with cape studies.
